Pickup & meet-and-greet

How do I get picked up at Colombo Bandaranaike Airport (CMB)?

After clearing immigration and customs, walk to the arrivals hall — your chauffeur waits there with a name board showing your name. If you can't find them, call or WhatsApp +94 77 405 2202 and they'll coordinate the exact meeting point. Free waiting is 60 minutes from your flight's actual landing time.

Is there a meet-and-greet service at CMB airport?

Yes — meet-and-greet with a name board in arrivals is included on every airport pickup, along with live flight tracking.

What happens if my flight is delayed or arrives early?

We monitor your flight number in real time and adjust the pickup automatically. Delays are handled at no extra charge wherever reasonably possible.

Booking & prices

How much does an airport transfer from CMB to Colombo cost?

A private sedan to Colombo is a fixed $25 all-in, matching the official BIA counter tariff (LKR 8,100) — VAT, taxes and tolls included, shown before you pay. Short routes like Negombo sit on our $18 minimum base fare. See CMB transfers and route pages like CMB → Kandy.

Can I book an airport transfer from CMB to Kandy or Galle?

Yes — any destination in Sri Lanka, including Kandy, Galle, Sigiriya, Ella, Mirissa, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee and Jaffna, in vehicles up to 16 seats.

How far in advance should I book?

6–12 hours gives the best availability (especially vans and child seats). Same-day and late-night bookings are usually possible via WhatsApp.

Do you offer hourly chauffeur service in Sri Lanka?

Yes — Day Hire puts a vehicle and chauffeur at your disposal by the hour: meetings, hotel changes, city exploration and coastal day plans.

Vehicles, luggage & extras

What vehicles are available for airport transfers?

Economy Sedan (up to 4), Standard Sedan (up to 4), Premium Sedan (up to 4, leather seats), Van (up to 8) and Minibus (up to 16). All air-conditioned, driven by vetted English-speaking chauffeurs, with bottled water on board.

Do you provide child seats or booster seats?

Yes — child safety seats and boosters are USD 5 each; request at booking and your chauffeur fits them before pickup.

What luggage can I bring?

One standard suitcase plus one hand bag per passenger in sedans; more in vans and minibuses. Declare oversized items (surfboards, bikes, strollers) at booking.

Payment, changes & cancellations

What payment methods do you accept?

Secure online payment via our internet payment gateway — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, bank transfer and digital wallets (Genie/Frimi), in USD, GBP or LKR. We do not accept cash to drivers: paying online locks your fixed price and keeps every booking insured and tracked.

Can I cancel or modify my booking?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup; charges apply closer to the service date as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Changes are accommodated where possible via email or WhatsApp.

Arrival practicalities

How long does immigration take at Colombo Airport (CMB)?

15–30 minutes in quiet periods; 45–90 minutes when several large aircraft land together, overnight and early morning. Pre-booked chauffeurs track your flight and wait from actual landing with 60 free minutes.

Should I tip my airport transfer driver in Sri Lanka?

Optional but appreciated: 500–1,000 LKR (about $2–4) for airport transfers, more for long drives like Kandy or Ella. Never expected as a condition of service.

Where do I get a SIM card at Colombo Airport?

Dialog and Hutch tourist-SIM counters are in the arrivals hall after customs and take cards; ATMs are just outside. An eSIM bought online before you fly is usually cheaper and works at the gate.

Is there an official pre-paid taxi counter at CMB?

Yes — fixed rates, but you queue, the driver is assigned at random, and flight delays aren't tracked. A pre-booked private transfer skips the queue and guarantees a name-board chauffeur who has watched your flight land.

What currency should I carry to Sri Lanka?

USD/EUR/GBP cash exchanges well at the airport; LKR ATMs are just outside customs. Cards work in hotels and larger restaurants; markets and tuk-tuks are cash-first. Your transfer is paid online in advance — no cash needed on the day.
